USA slams China over South China Sea expansion plot at India-led UNSC debate

- At a high-level debate on maritime security, the United States of America highlighted China's bid to unlawfully expand its maritime territory in the South China Sea. The debate, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saw acrimonious attacks and counters between the representatives of the Washington and Beijing. While US Secretary of State Antony Blinken cited the security threat of disputes in the South China Sea, and said that Beijing must follow the United Nations Conventions on the Law of the Sea (UNSCLOS), Chinese diplomat Dai Bing said that US can't lecture other countries since it has not ratified the treaty yet.
