Brown to take PM mantle from Blair
Updated on Jun 27, 2007 11:09 pm IST
Gordon Brown will become the 52nd Prime Minister of Great Britain when he takes over the reign at 10, Downing Street from Tony Blair on Wednesday. Gordon Brown's rise to become Prime minister is the culmination of a 24-year political career, much of it spent in partnership with Tony Blair. Brown succeeds Blair, inheriting a Labour government trailing in many polls because of Iraq and needing to win back voters if it is to secure a fourth consecutive term.
