China: Aftermath of deadly Tianjin blasts will leave you speechless

Updated on Aug 18, 2015 04:27 pm IST

Aftermath of the Tianjin blasts in China looks like a catastrophe swept through the port city, killing 114. Giant explosions in a warehouse storing 3,000 tonnes of dangerous chemicals led to the disaster on August 12. To add to difficulties, heavy rain fell on the remains of the industrial site on Tuesday, leading to complications in clean-up efforts and heightening fears about toxic contamination. Rainwater could also disperse chemical residues on the ground into the air when it evaporates, and some of the many substances on the scene could react with it.
