Voicing its ire, China blamed the Dalai Lama for the highly-charged Tibetan protests in New Delhi by saying that the revered spiritual leader was instigating extremist activities and views that violates the belief of Buddhism. Lashing out at the Tibetan spiritual leader, the director-general of department of Asian affairs in the Chinese foreign ministry, Luo Zhaohui, said the Dalai Lama and pro-Tibet freedom lobby was 'glorifying' extreme actions such as self-immolations. Zhaohui also added that India was committed to 'recognise' that the Tibetan region was indeed an integral part of China.
