Updated on Aug 13, 2012 02:26 pm IST
Doctors are not safe in Balochistan. They are being abducted, killed and harassed, both, by criminals, and law enforcement agencies. Psychiatrist Dr Ghulam Rasool of Bolan Medical Complex was abducted by armed men from Brewery Road on August 1, 2012. Shocked by the incident, the doctors observed a strike and showed their anger and resentment while protesting on the streets. Some 50 doctors have been killed and over a dozen abducted in Balochistan, over the last five years, according to the Pakistan Medical Association. The crime rate in Balochistan has gone up after the Baloch people intensified the movement for their right of self-determination.
