Girls who escaped Boko Haram reveal horror of mass kidnapping
Updated on Feb 12, 2015 01:19 pm IST
Some 10 months after the Boko Haram extremist group snatched nearly 300 girls from a school in Nigeria, most are still missing, and the militants are said to be bragging about it to new captives. The militants take pride in the surrender of the Chibok girls, their conversion to Islam and their marriages to fighters. Three girls who managed to escape from their clutches reveal Boko Haram's obsession with the Chibok girls along with the horror of forceful conversion to Islam. One of the three girls who were interviewed says the militant threatened to break the legs of any girl who tried to escape, but she ran anyway along with six others. The campaign for the return of the Chibok girls has united Nigerians of all religions and tribes.
