Packed with holiday travellers, the Karachi Express derailed on Wednesday near the town of Mehrabpur, 400km north of Karachi in Pakistan. The train was on its way to Lahore when most of its carriages came off the tracks and rammed into each other at about 2:30 am. According to officials, 32 people died and around 100 others were injured. They feared that the death toll could rise. Many passengers were heading home for Eid al-Adha, which falls on Friday.
