The Pakistani opposition parties which inflicted a crushing defeat on President Pervez Musharraf's allies in last week's election vowed at a gathering in Islamabad on Wednesday to banish the military from politics. Citing the assassination of former Pakistani premier Benazir Bhutto, Asif Ali Zardari, leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party said that the opposition should work together to end the supremacy of the military-led establishment.
