Security tight in China

Hundreds of riot police personnel have sealed off Tibetan areas in China, after thousands of Tibetans in Xiahe county of Gansu Province took to the streets to protest against the government and demand for more human rights. Officials have ordered a curfew in several towns and cities near Xiahe. Monks first took to the streets of Tibet last Monday to mark the 49th anniversary of the uprising. The protests soon spread to adjoining regions inhabited by pockets of Tibetans.
