Sri Lanka air base bombed

At least nine Sri Lankan airmen and 20 rebels were killed in an air and ground pre-dawn attack on Monday by the Tamil Tigers on an Air Force base in Anuradhapura in north-central Sri Lanka. Two light aircraft of the LTTE dropped two bombs on the air force camp at around 3 am, while a small group of rebels infiltrated the airbase. Nine persons, including eight air force personnel, were killed in the attack.
