UN appeals to support Myanmar

The United Nations has appealed to its 192 member states to provide 187 million US Dollars in aid to the devastated reclusive nation, Myanmar. In his opening address at the launch of the appeal, UN humanitarian affairs chief John Holmes stressed the urgency for getting aid to the stricken victims. The ruling junta has not yet approved visas for a team of US disaster assistance experts that is standing by in Bangkok ready to help.
