US police released video footage of an officer fatally shooting an unarmed black teen, who had allegedly tried to obtain a prescription for narcotic cough syrup. The shooting occurred on September 23 around 5 p.m. in Reisterstown, Baltimore County Police said in a statement. The 19-year-old teen named Keith McLeod was shot three times and no weapon was found on him, police said.
The release comes amid a time of heightened scrutiny of police violence, particularly toward people of color, in the wake of numerous high-profile killings of unarmed black men in the past year.
