1 dead, 50 injured as 2 bombs rip through Kurdish town in north Syria: State TV

Two bomb blasts hit the northeastern Syrian city of Qamishli near the Turkish border on Wednesday, killing at least one person and injuring dozens, a monitoring group and state television reported.

The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said one of the explosions hit near a security headquarters of the Kurdish administration, including a local police station and a government building, that controls most of Hasaka province, where Qamishli is located.

Dozens of people were either killed or wounded in the blasts, the group said. Syrian state TV estimated that about 50 people were hurt in the attack.

Two bombs went of in Qamishli in Syria, close to the Turkish border, in which dozens died. Nobody has yet claimed responsibility for the double attack.

The state TV also said one blast was from a car bomb, which exploded on the western edge of Qamishli, and the other from a bomb on a motorbike. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the explosions.

The predominantly Kurdish US-backed Syria Democratic Forces have been the main force fighting the IS in northern Syria and have captured wide areas from the extremists.
