The Iranian military has claimed that its forces successfully targeted and brought down a US A-10 ground attack aircraft. Iranian authorities shared a video, purportedly capturing the moment an American A-10 warplane is struck by an air defence missile fired by Iran’s integrated air defence system has been shared by the Consulate General of Iran in Mumbai.
According to reports, A-10 Warthog fighter jet crashed near the Strait of Hormuz on Friday, around the same time an Air Force F-15E was reportedly shot down over Iran. The lone pilot of the A-10 was said to have been rescued.
The footage shows the A-10 being hit mid-air, followed by am explosion.

What is happening?
Earlier, US and Iranian officials confirmed that two members of the F-15E crew ejected after the jet was shot down. One crew member has been rescued, while the status of the other remains unknown.
The rescue took place as the US military carried out a search and rescue mission, the AP reported, citing three people familiar with the matter. Iranian state media also claimed in a post on X that Iran’s military shot down a US F-15E Strike Eagle.
According to an email from the Pentagon obtained by The AP, the US military said it had received notification of “an aircraft being shot down” in the Middle East, without providing further details.

The conflict, which began more than a month ago with US-Israeli strikes on Iran that killed supreme leader Ali Khamenei, has since escalated, spreading across the Middle East, disrupting the global economy and affecting millions worldwide.
US Central Command did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the reported loss of the F-15. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said: "The president has been briefed".
President Donald Trump told NBC the F-15 loss would not affect negotiations with Iran, saying: "No, not at all. No, it's war."
