In response to this threat, Iran has stated that the US has no real intelligence regarding Iran's capabilities and military strengths, denying Trump's claims of the Iranian army and navy being "destroyed and reduced to rubble."
Furthermore, Iran has stated that this war will continue until the US surrenders and leaves.
"With trust in Almighty God, this war will continue until your humiliation, disgrace, permanent and certain regret, and surrender. Await our more crushing, broader, and more destructive actions," read a statement issued by Iranian military's operational command Khatam Al-Anbiya.
Oil prices rise after Trump's speech hints at no near end to war
Markets reacted negatively to Donald Trump’s speech, with stocks falling and oil prices surging as investors were left disappointed by the lack of a clear path to a swift end to the conflict.
Trump said the United States does not depend on the Strait of Hormuz and urged US allies reliant on regional oil supplies to take steps to reopen the key shipping route.
Following Trump's final warning to Iran, oil prices jumped back up. Brent crude surged as high as 6.9 per cent, past $108 per barrel.
