Bo Lueders, a founding member of the hardcore punk band Harm’s Way, has died at the age of 38. His death was announced by the band on Thursday, April 2 through a social media post.
The band shared an emotional message, saying, “It is with heavy, broken hearts that we share that our beloved Bo Lueders has passed away. He will be remembered for his unwavering empathy and compassion for his friends & family and his magnetic, inimitable presence on & off the stage.” They also asked for privacy as they deal with the loss.
The cause of death has not been revealed yet. He is survived by his wife Kasey Denton, to whom he was married since October 9, 2013.
Along with their statement, the band shared a message encouraging those struggling to seek help, writing, “For those struggling with depression or urges to self-harm, help is always available. We’re not in this alone. Suicide and Crisis Lifeline: 988.”

His journey with Harm's Way
Lueders was one of the founding members of Harm’s Way, which he helped form in Chicago in 2006. Over nearly two decades, the band built a strong following in the hardcore and metal scene, releasing five albums and several EPs. Their most recent record ‘Common Suffering’ which was released in 2023 came out as a major release in their journey.
He played an important role in shaping the band’s sound. What started as a raw hardcore project slowly evolved into a heavier, industrial metal style, helping push the boundaries of modern hardcore music.
His guitar work became a key part of the band’s identity, combining heavy riffs with industrial elements and influencing a new generation of heavy music artists.

His life beyond music
Outside of the band, Lueders had also made a name for himself as a podcast host. He co-hosted HardLore alongside Colin Young of Twitching Tongues. Launched in 2022, the podcast gave musicians a platform to share stories from life on the road and featured guests from across punk, metal, hardcore and rock, including notable names like Freddy Cricien and Randy Blythe
