Update: The fire that broke out Saturday afternoon at the INSERV Solid Waste Processing Facility on East Marion Street in Mishawaka, Indiana, has been brought under control after an hours-long firefighting effort, according to WSBT.
Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the community and that no injuries were reported.
"Everything has been contained on site. There's been no any sort of runoff in the in the storm drains, anything like that. So there's zero risk to the public at this point, and we're just working on kind of just hitting some hot spots," said Lt. Jordan Rutherford, Mishawaka Fire Department PIO.
Nearby resident Benjamin Ryll described the intensity of the blaze, telling WSBT that the explosion-like sounds and flames were alarming.
"That fireball, I could like feel it. It was like a shock wave, like a big mushroom cloud," he told outlet. "I was kind of scared about. There's like a bunch of big tall pillars. If those caught on fire, I was thinking that wouldn't have been good, because you know you don't know what kind of waste is there."

{{/usCountry}}Mishawaka Utilities said the fire caused power outages for some customers, but all electricity service has since been restored.
Initial report: A massive fire is burning at a business in Mishawaka, Indiana, with thick smoke billowing across the area. Residents shared dramatic videos and photos of the blaze on social media. Several reported hearing explosions as the fire intensified. According to dispatchers, crews are responding to a fire at a business in the 500 block of E. Marion Street.
One resident reported on Facebook, "I was there I was told by some neighbors that it’s a business called Inserv."
Another added, "We live off of Lawrence st and we have no power."
A third resident wrote, "My son is a fireman for a Mishawaka fire department and is currently on duty. I’m sure he is there. I am praying for everyone’s safety I’m praying that nobody got hurt."
Another expressed, "Praying for all involved in this fire near Jefferson and Division in Mishawaka. I pray all houses near it stay unharmed. Wow it is a hot fire!"
One resident wrote, "I pray whatever is on fire is not one of INSERV's hazardous wastes. By the size a smoke, I would definitely say a chemical fire."
