Pop star Pink is being criticized for a social media post about Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated by Tyler Robinson in Utah on September 10. Pink shared several controversial posts on Instagram after Kirk’s murder, including one that criticized President Donald Trump’s decision to lower flags to half-staff the slain Turning Point USA founder. Pink pointed out that Trump had not done the same for victims of school shootings.

Pink allegedly wrote, “The fact that we lower the flag for some but not for murdered school children tells you everything you need to know.”

Pink also went on to encourage fans to make conversations “awkward” when Kirk’s name comes up. She wrote, “The next time someone brings up mourning Charlie Kirk to you, act as if you don't know who he is and ask them what is he known for. Ask what kind of things he talked about. Make them explain it. Make it awkward.”

Pink later shared a meme labeled “funeral idea” that many believed was disrespectful and offensive.

Pink faces backlash

Among many who called out Pink was singer Joy Villa, who wrote, “How dare you call my friend Charlie Kirk a White Supremacist, @Pink . Please do some research, watch even ONE of his videos. You are wrong for this. If we don't have open discourse, we will never heal. Stop working for the darkness and teach your children to communicate openly, as Charlie did.”

Villa added, “While you' beautiful people are all here remember, Jesus Christ died and defeated sin, rising again 3 days later. We are fighting a spiritual battle, it's the Holy Spirit verses the demonic. Guess who wins, every time? Jesus! We win, and He loves you, so don't fear death or shame, trust in Jesus and He will save you.”

Another user wrote, re-posing the “Funeral idea” meme, “@Pink you are a sick and disgusting excuse for a human being. I pity your children that they have you as a parent. I pray no one you love is ever murdered and no one mocks them as you have Charlie Kirk. Shame on you.”

One user said, “Hey @Pink I’d like to answer this for you. The next time I hear Charlie Kirk’s name, I will remember how much he showed his support to Israel, the Jewish people, supported the hostages & their families publicly more than what you ever did since October 7th. Actually, you never publicly spoke about it & only posted ONE post about it. How about you sit this one out…”
