A 24-year-old teacher and a 10-year-old student from Borlaug Elementary School in Johnson County, Iowa, died mysteriously while on a class field trip in the MacBride Nature Recreation Area on Tuesday. Questions are being raised about the circumstances of their deaths.
The teacher, Hannah Jorgensen, 24, and the student, Ahmed Osman, 10, were found dead in the water near the Coralville Reservoir spillway at MacBride Nature Recreation Area. The Johnson County Sheriff's Office said that they received a call about Jorgensen and Osman being missing around noon on Tuesday.

A search was conducted by the Sheriff's Office, and they found Hannah Jorgensen first, followed by Ahmad Osman. The circumstances around their deaths have raised a lot of questions. It is currently under investigation, the Johnson County Sheriff's Office said, without providing further details.
Borlaug Elementary School, located around 10 miles from Iowa City area, is part of the Iowa City Community School District. The school district released a statement mourning their two “deeply valued members.”

"Our hearts are with their families and loved ones, as well as Hannah's colleagues and students, Ahmed's classmates and friends, and everyone who knew and cared for them.
"This is an extraordinarily painful time for the Borlaug community and our entire school district. We will continue to come together, care for one another, and keep Hannah, Ahmed, and their families at the center of our hearts in the difficult days ahead."
Iowa Governor Reacts: 'Unimaginable loss'
The governor of Iowa, Kim Reynolds, reacted to the death, describing it as an unimaginable loss for the community. She offered condolences to the families and offered support to the community.
"This unimaginable loss touches the entire Borlaug Elementary community and Iowa City School District. Please know that Iowans across our state are standing with you in the difficult days ahead," she wrote.
The Borlaug Elementary School in Coralville opened in 2012 and serves around 400 students from kindergarten to fifth grade.
