All 500 people on a refugee boat from Libya that hit rocks as it was approaching the Italian port of Lampedusa have now been rescued, a coast guard spokesman said on Sunday.

"We managed to save all the passengers. We believe there were no victims," said the spokesman, Vittorio Alessandro.
