The capture of the Tamil Tigers' political capital of Kilinochchi on Friday was an "unparalleled victory" for government forces, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse said.
"This is an unparalleled victory for the entire nation," the president said in a national address from his tightly guarded office overlooking the Indian Ocean.
