Former Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf, who has returned home after over four years in self-exile, may be kidnapped, the interior ministry fears.
The ministry has said that Musharraf should not be taken anywhere, Geo News reported, citing a notification.
Musharraf, who returned to Pakistan on March 23 after over four years of self-imposed exile in Dubai, was keen to contest the May 11 general elections. However, his nomination papers were rejected from four constituencies.
Musharraf ruled Pakistan from 1999 to 2008.
Musharraf has been arrested in the case relating to judges being kept in illegal confinement when he imposed an emergency in 2007. He is in his Islamabad farmhouse which has been declared a sub-jail.
The former president is also facing charges of high treason for the abrogation of the constitution, that paved the way for the declaration of Emergency.
