North Korea is showing no signs of preparing a major troop build-up, US Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Thursday, describing its routine military stance as a “source of comfort”.

“I don’t think there has been a commensurate change in the posture of the North Korean military that would suggest an intent to undertake operations,” he told reporters travelling with him to NATO talks in Brussels.

“The military operations are pretty routine at this point, so that’s a source of comfort,” he said.
