US President Barack Obama on Sunday left France and was scheduled to return to Washington after a Middle East and Europe tour, an AFP correspondent reported.
The US leader on Saturday attended a ceremony in Normandy to mark the 65th anniversary of the D-Day landings, following a three-day swing through Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Germany.

The highlight of his trip was a major speech in Cairo, aimed at Muslims around the world, in which Obama vowed to forge a "new beginning" for Islam and the United States.
