Pakistani media have speculated that Zardari may quit over his role in ‘memogate’. The 56-year-old is accused of clearing a memo to the US military after the raid on Osama bin Laden. In the memo, Zardari offered to rein in the Pakistani army in return for US support.
Zardari’s spokesman slammed the reports. “The president is in Dubai for routine tests. He will be back in the country soon,” Farhatullah Babar said.
