Without any formal training in theatre, this group of working professionals is all set to take their passion to the next level. Called Curtain Call, the group will perform an adaptation of David Auburn’s play, Proof, in the Capital this month.The members of the group devote their spare time in rehearsing plays with a motive to share their passion for the art form with others. After successfully staging plays in Ahmedabad, they are coming to Delhi as they feel the audience here is receptive and mature enough to appreciate the nuances of the script.
"Proof is a tale of genius, madness, relationships, legacies and possibilities. The story revolves around three characters, sisters - Catherine and Claire and their friend Hal. After the death of their father and Hal’s mentor, the siblings discover how to move past their pain and bitterness. Hal discovers the courage to resign to his fate and Catherine discovers that the line between genius and insanity may be thinner than she expected," says Siddhant Lahiri, the director.
With their performance, they want to encourage youth as they believe that theatre needs more participation from youngsters for it to survive and flourish. “My grandfather and father died of Alzheimer’s and in the story, the mathematical genius dies of the same disease. The script fascinated me as it seemed so real, I could relate with it. It was too close for me to ignore it,” says Andrew Hoffland, a member of the group.
