Delhi based artist and designer Alex Davis pays a tribute to the dying craft of denting and painting of automobile through his exhibition ‘Dented Painted’.
He brings out the vibrant colours and graphics of Indian highways employing the age-old tradition of using metal sheets, putty and hand-polishing. The different layers of paint on the automobile more or less explain the age of the vehicle. The work brings out the nostalgia of road side workshops, truck painting and re-doing.

Creating visions in abstraction

Acclaimed sculptor Madan Lal returns to Delhi after seven years with a new solo exhibition. He uses the art form of chiaroscuro a method of applying value to two-dimensional pieces to create the illusion of a three-dimensional form.

This exhibition of sculptures and drawings reveals Lal’s synchronised vision for both abstract and sensibility. If his earlier creations were observed as a fusion of the figurative and the abstract, his present series exhibits an exclusive preoccupation with the purely abstract qualities of form, line, colour and surface.

December kicks off with festivals for the young

This week offers a cultural feast to the young lot. Look out for the 11th International Children’s Festival of Performing Arts starting Thursday.
