A collection of rare ragas and musical compositions spanning more than four decades of Sarod legend Ustad Amjad Ali Khan's musical career was launched at a glittering function here.
The launch last evening was followed by a recital by the Ustad himself, leaving the packed audience enthralled.

"This collection is a tribute to all the beautiful moments of my life which include the 'fireworks' of sixties and seventies when I was younger," said the sixth-generation sarod player in his family.

The four-volume CD pack Portrait of a Legend by 'Music Today' contains live recordings and rare pictures from the archives of the artist.

The legend in his inimitable style
"It is a momentous occasion for our family and whatever could be done with the sarod has been done by my father, and this collection is a just tribute to him," said Ayaan Ali Bangash, his son.

Khan, who was taught by his father Hafiz Ali Khan said the Senior Khan had the greatest influence on him. "My father emphasised on the importance of compositions to preserve the ragas, and I have tried to carry forward that tradition."

"The Ustad is one of the greatest legends of the world who has given a Indian classical music a new dimension with his unique style, and it was great honour to work with the ustadji," said Gurmeet Singh, Business Director, Music Today.

Khan started his evening's recital with 'Raga Saraswati' followed with many of his famous compositions including 'Raga Zila Kafi' and others.

Furthermore, when you’re not together, you miss her. You let go of guys night outs just to be with her. And you find yourself trying to incorporate her into your scheme of things. Priorities take a back seat Your ever-important “to do” list seems quite stagnant these days — being with her always manages to put your other plans and obligations on a backburner.

Your workaholic tendency of bringing home work on weekends to get ahead seems a bit excessive to you of late. She figures in your future plans It used to be that the future with a woman meant your date on Saturday night, but with this woman, the future seems infinite.

Not only do you plan to see her this weekend, but you want to see her a year from now as well.

When planning your next vacation, you know you want to spend it with her.

And when you get an invitation to a wedding that takes place three months from now, you ask her to be your date without thinking that it’s too far away to tell if you’ll still be together. She’s the one If you are currently dating a woman or know of a woman who makes you act in any of the ways mentioned above, then you are seriously falling for her. Enjoy the ride.
