Early last week, the fabled SH Raza — India’s most noted modern artist —after living in Paris for close to 60 years, moved back to the Capital for good. And at his new residence in Delhi’s Safdarjung Development Area, FDCI president Sunil Sethi had the opportunity to meet and spend time with the artist.
Sethi met Raza as he presented the artist with two specially commissioned carpets created by him, which have Raza’s artwork on them. “To have been able to present Raza ji with my work and have him appreciate it was an honour beyond words. Having an artist of his calibre appreciate these carpets is something I never would have dreamed of,” says Sethi. Also present at the meeting were noted artist Manish Pushkale, chairman of the Lalit Kala Akademi Ashok Vajpeyi, and Raza Foundation’s Sanjiv Chaube.
Raza plans on keeping one carpet at his residence and one at his new studio in the Capital.
