For 21-year-old Ambika Rajgopal a plastic chair, a rickety door and even a roadside vendor are worthy subjects of art.
An amateur photographer who has pursued the art with a passion for a while, Rajgopal says, “It’s not really that anything is the subject. For me the elements are not as important as the composition, what I look for is colour.”
For her first solo exhibition Warmth of Colour that was held recently at the India Habitat Centre photographs of the capital took centre stage, including several photographs of twilight and dawn in the city. “Colour is central to the photograph, there is a lot of use of warm colours like red, orange and yellow.”
A student at Symbiosis Pune, Rajgopal explains that her love for photography allows her to travel more. “It’s an excuse to travel and see more places, thanks to this I’ve been to places I wouldn’t have been to otherwise” Her works can be viewed at www.photoblog.com/ambikarajgopal.
