A few stand-up comedians from the city have decided to do their bit for India’s Olympic dream. Doing what they do best- making you laugh, they will be raising funds for Indian athletes at a charity show today, called Tuesday with Morons: Lolympic edition. Organised by East India Co.medy, it will feature acts by Sorabh Pant, Kunal Rao, Aditi Mittal, Sapan Verma and Sahil Shah.

“We’ve planned some really funny acts. We are all very excited about it,” says Sorabh Pant. Ask him if they’ll be spoofing the athletes and he says, “Yeah, that’s bound to happen, but it isn’t meant to be offensive in any way. Also, I have met a few of them, and they are all fun and easygoing,” he says. In his routine, Pant will play spoof characters like ‘Pantjot’ Singh Sidhu and Lord ‘Pantbatten’, and will be joined in a few acts by VJ Jose Covaco.

A couple of athletes will also be present at the programme, including Youth Olympics silver medallist badminton player HS Prannoy and the top striker from the national women’s hockey squad, Rani Rampal. “It’s always nice to see people coming forward to extend their support to Indian sports. I have never heard of an initiative like this and I’m looking forward to the event,” says Rani.
