London-based actor Alyy Khan’s mother curiously decided on naming him after the son of Aga Khan III, one of the founder members and the first president of the All-India Muslim League. One wonders why Khan decided on adding an extra ‘y’ to his name. Was he hooked on numerology or did was he wary of the playboy status bestowed on his namesake?

The actor is well-known in the local theatre circle, and has worked closely with the Hima Kala Kendra. Like most theatre actors, he says: “I love interacting with a live audience. I am very passionate about theatre. I also like to host events because I see it as an extension of theatre.” Homesick So is he in the city only for work? “No, I am here because I was pretty homesick,” he admits.
Thanks to the break, he spending time with his wife and son. He says, “In London, my favourite pastime is taking my 15-month-old son for a walk and then help him feed the ducks.” The 38-year-old shuffles between Mumbai and London, and isn’t perturbed that he may lose touch with work assignments in either city .
