Actor-comedian Jason Sudeikis is all set to play John Keating — a character made popular by late Robin Williams, who played it in the iconic 1989 film The Dead Poets Society — in a stage adaptation of the movie.

Off-Broadway nonprofit Classic Stage Company will present an adaptation of the Oscar-winning director Tom Schulman’s 1989 screenplay, reported Deadline.

Performances are slated to begin October 27, with an official opening November 17.

The story, set in an all-boys prep school, is about professor Keating, who has an off-beat approach to education and encourages his students to live life passionately.

Sudeikis’ upcoming films include the sci-fi thriller “Colossal” where he stars opposite Anne Hathaway and Kodachrome with Ed Harris.
