Four women stand-up comics promise a laugh riot at an event in the city tonight

Neeti Palta

* I don’t do period jokes. Because then I’d be funny only once a month.
* My chin got divorced. It’s single again.

If you’re planning to attend Schitzengiggles tonight, featuring four women comics, expect no penis jokes. At least that’s what one of the performers, Neeti Palta, warns. “I don’t have a penis so I don’t feel the necessity to joke about it, unlike the male comics, who always have such gags ready,” she says. However, you can expect plenty of dope on how and why women think the way that they do.

The Delhi-based comedian will be joined by Aditi Mittal, Vasu Primlani and Padmini Harchandrai for the show at Bistro Grill, Juhu. “This is the first time I’m going to perform with three other women comics and it will be exciting, because all of us have different perspectives. Neeti is a man-basher, while Padmini will bring her style of ‘musical comedy’ to the table,” says Aditi. She believes that when it comes to sharing humour, gender is not an issue: “As long as what comes out of your mouth is funny, it doesn't matter if you’re a man or a woman.”

Our voices have mostly been urban, so it will be nice to see comics from small-towns too,” says Aditi. Explaining why there aren’t many women comics hitting the stage, Neeti says, “Women get enough attention, so they don’t feel the need to get more of it.” Unlike their male counterparts who are ready with their stock of punches on women, the ladies plan to refrain from taking digs at men. “Men do it themselves, so we won’t have the need to do it,” she says.
