Art lovers are in for a surprise when they visit the Gallery Art Positive, as it has introduced a number of interesting innovations. From an artifacts store, art book library, art cafe, to a solo exhibition and a group show, the gallery has refashioned itself this art season. Started almost a year back, the gallery is spread across two floors now, while it had only one floor earlier. The ground floor is now entirely dedicated to the display of artworks and the first floor houses the art cafe, book store and the artifacts store.
“We were short of space in terms of a gallery and needed to expand. But more than that, we wanted to provide a holistic art experience to our visitors,” says Anu Bajaj, owner of the Gallery. “People who visit art galleries don’t have a place to sit and discuss art, but our cafe provides for such a facility,” she adds.
In its revamped avatar, the gallery’s most unique feature happens to be the artifacts store, which has memorabilia such as shirts, mugs, cushions, watches, cards, sarees, scarves, jewellry and more. “Not all the people who come to an art gallery can afford expensive art pieces, but small souvenirs like these can go a long way in satisfying an art lover’s quest for art,” says Bajaj. All the pieces are under Rs. 10,000.

WTF is a solo show by artist Haribaabu Naatesan, who uses electronic waste from factories, such as discarded cellphones, out-of date video tapes, obsolete walkmans and other stuff to create mixed media artworks. Art Spotting- II showcases new works by 20 young artists from across the country. All the artworks are for sale for a price of Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 2 lakh.
