Asian Games 2018: Apurvi Chandela finishes fifth in 10m Air Rifle Finals

Apurvi Chandela missed out on her second medal at Asian Games 2018 as she finished fifth in the 10m Air Rifle Finals.

Apurvi Chandela failed to win her second medal at the Asian 2018 as the 25-year old finished fifth with a score of 186.0 in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle Finals in Palembung on Monday.

Chandela produced a brilliant performance in the qualification round to book her berth in the finals with a score of 629.4. China’s Rouzho Zhao was first with 631.9.

On Day 1, Chandela and Ravi Kumar opened India’s medal account at the Asian Games 2018 as the duo claimed bronze in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event.

The duo aggregated 429.9 after 42 shots in the 48-shot final and were in second spot for major part of the 48-shot finals before China overtook them to take the silver.

Chinese Taipei won gold with an Asian Games record score of 494.1 while China finished second with 492.5.

In 2014, Chandela won four medals at the Intershoot Championships at The Hague that included two team and two individual medals. She followed it up with a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, having scored 206.7 points in final - a new games record.
