Five policemen were suspended on Sunday following the death of a truck driver soon after his release from police custody.
Tadil Baba and three other drivers were picked up by a police team, led by assistant sub-inspector (ASI) BS Yadav, on suspicion of gambling from the Makronia area under the Padmakar police post on Saturday, sources said, adding all of them were allegedly beaten up by police before they were released on Sunday morning. However, Tadil Baba died after he reached the spot from where he was rounded up.

Following the incident, city superintendent of police Pramod Sonkar placed Yadav and constables Shambu Tiwari, Bhagwan Singh, Deepak Thapa and Kishorilal under suspension till further investigations.
