Bhopal: Retired IAS officer’s son arrested for assaulting woman

Retired IAS officer GP Kabirpanthi’s son and his friend were arrested by Habibganj police for allegedly beating up a woman late on Saturday night.

Retired IAS officer GP Kabirpanthi’s son and his friend were arrested by Habibganj police for allegedly beating up a woman late on Saturday night.

The accused were produced in court and sent to jail on judicial remand on Sunday.

Town inspector of Habibganj police station Sudhir Arjaria said the two persons identified as Lalitmuni Kabirpanthi and his friend Amit Sharma went to a slum near Bhopal Fracture Hospital and forced a woman who runs a shop from her home there to give them cigarettes.

When the woman refused to open the shop as it was about 2 am, the two, who were inebriated at the time, started beating her.

Hearing her screams, local residents reached the woman’s home and rescued her. The local residents caught the two accused and beat up them. On receiving information, a police team rushed to the spot and took the two into custody.

Arjaria said a case had been registered on the complaint of the victim, Leelabai, under sections 452, 294, 506, 323 and 34 of the IPC and the accused were sent to jail after being produced in the court.
