They raised slogans of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and demanded Gupt’s suspension by the government.

The personnel ended their protest after the state home minister revoked the decision.

“This is total anarchy on the part of Gupt. He has always taken decisions which were against the home guards. This time too with his decision to reduce the retirement age to 41, he has proved how much he cares about our well being. If he is not suspended by the government, we will gherao the chief minister house on September 15,” said home guard DR Sakre.

He said all the home guards were ready for an open war with Gupt and other officials of the home guards. “The department has not implemented the Supreme Court’s order in 2011 in which it directed the administration to make all the volunteer home guards permanent. At present, only half of the home guards are permanent,” said Sakre.

“The permanent officers in the home guards are continuously conspiring against all the non-permanent home guards and Gupt is heading the lot. We will fight for our right till the last drop of blood in our body,” he said.
