Madhya Pradesh’s second digital block has an RSS link

The third Sarsanghchalak of RSS Balasaheb Deoras’s native Lanji block in the Maoist-affected Balaghat district has become the second ‘digital block’ in Madhya Pradesh under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India initiative.

Deoras, who hailed from Karanja village in Lanji block, died in 1996.

On Tuesday, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan declared 37 gram panchayats in Lanji development block as ‘digital gram panchayats’ and held discussions with their sarpanchs through video-conferencing.

Bicchua in Chhindwara district was the first ‘digital block’ in the state.

Following linkage with digital services, panchayat works will be transparent and villagers will enjoy various services in the village itself, said a government release.

Chouhan also laid the foundation stone of 29 construction works costing Rs 64 crore in the area. He declared 27 gram panchayats in Balaghat district as open defecation-free .

Chouhan presented paddy planting machines on subsidy to 25 farmers. The machines will reduce dependency on labourers in paddy plantation. Under Ujjwala Yojana, he gave free gas connections to 929 women under BPL category, the release said.

Senior government functionaries, local representatives and senior BJP leaders attended the function. Those present included farmers welfare minister Gaurishankar Bisen, MPs Vinay Sahasrabuddhe and Bodh Singh Bhagat, district BJP president Rekha Bisen, MLAs Hina Kanwre, KD Deshmukh, Dr Devendra Nirmal.

Poor to be provided residential land: CM

The chief minister addressed a gathering at Antyodaya Mela at Karanja village, where he said that the state government had resolved to provide housing for all.

“Lives of people will be made enjoyable by providing them pucca houses in villages and cities. Every poor family will be provided a residential plot of land and assistance to construct house. No poor person will be deprived of residential land. Poor people will not be evicted from occupied lands, but will be given pattas for the same land,” he said.
