Madhya Pradesh: Tiger attacks 2 forest guards

A tiger attacked two forest guards in Magdhi range of Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday evening. The guards had gone there to install tracking cameras to monitor the movement of tigers.

A tiger attacked two forest guards in Magdhi range of Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday evening.

The tiger injured the leg of one of the guards, while another guard received injuries when he fell down while attempting to escape from the spot.

The guards had gone there to install tracking cameras to monitor the movement of tigers in the area. According to officials of the national park, the tiger has not been identified yet. The staff is in search of the tiger.

Bandhavgarh National Park deputy director DK Gupta confirmed the attack. "Two forest guards have been injured in the attack. While one of the guards fell on the spot and injured himself, the other guard was attacked by the big cat. He received injuries in his leg. He has been hospitalised and his condition is stable," he said.

The latest kill was on October 24, when a teacher was killed in a village in the buffer zone of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve.

On October 27, a young woman was killed in a jungle bordering Kanha National Park while she had gone to collect firewood.
