A bullet accidentally fired by a 10-year-old boy from a single barrel muzzle gun allegedly killed a 6-year-old boy in Ramnagar area of Satna district on Monday. The gun was kept to scare away big lizards.

The shocking incident happened at the house of a farmer Brijendra Singh in Amiliya village. The police have seized the licensed gun and lodged the matter under Section 174 of CrPc and investigations are underway.

The 6-year-old Class I student Arunoday Singh Parihar (son of a cement company employee in adjoining Sidhi district) had come to spend summer vacations at maternal grandparents place in Amiliya village of Satna district.

Arunoday was playing with his elder sister Jigyasa and two other children, including 10-year-old boy Vipul (name changed) and his 6-year-old sister at the house of a neighbour and Vipul’s uncle.

Suddenly Vipul picked up his uncle’s loaded single barrel gun and accidentally pulled the trigger. The resultant bullet hit Arunoday in the left part of chest on which he slumped on the ground and started bleeding profusely.
