The Dindori police have seized a drone-like remote controlled device equipped with camera from a Swiss national in Chada village of the district, close to Naxal-affected area of neighbouring Chhattisgarh, police said.

The seizure took place on Friday and the device has been sent to Bhopal for technical analysis on Saturday, Dindori superintendent of police (SP) Mohammad Yusuf Qureshi said.

Police seized the device with the consent of the Swiss national Thomas Nyffenegger and he is not under detention, he said.

"The matter has been informed to the Swiss embassy."

"We basically want to check the technical capability of the device and the kind of footage it recorded, especially as the videography was done in village falling in a sensitive area," the SP said, adding "the device has been sent to Bhopal for inspection and will be returned to the owner thereafter."

Chada village falls in the tribal-dominated Baiga area close to the Chhattisgarh border, about 60km from Dindori district headquarters.

Thomas is working with the Parishad for last two months and holds a commercial visa, the activist said adding that the Swiss national was accompanying the rally that started from Chada in Dindori on November 20 and will conclude at Kawardha in Chhattisgarh on December 10.
