The party said that the Jabalpur high court and its Indore bench had cancelled the earlier notifications for delimitation on the grounds that the processes were not duly followed. Congress' chief spokesperson KK Mishra said the governor should have got the delimitation proposals examined before coming to a decision.

In a statement, Mishra said the delimitation was conducted by the BJP government in such a way that it would benefit the party during the civic bodies' polls. "The notification was earlier issued without governor's assent and it was cancelled by the court. However, now the governor has okayed the delimitation. This puts a question mark on the dignity of the high office," he added.

Mishra alleged that villages were added to the municipal corporations to benefit builders and land mafia because prices of land in these villages will soar after they come in municipal limits.
