The engineers and employees working in the State-run power companies in MP resolved on Wednesday to go on indefinite strike from September 2 to press for their multiple demands including creation of pension fund or the government to take guarantee to provide regular funds to disburse pension.
The MP United Forum for Power Employees and Engineers, a body represented by employees associations, the diploma engineers association and the engineers association, held a meeting and resolved to go on indefinite strike from September 2.
Currently 42,000 employees and engineers are working in the State-run power companies including three distribution companies, one each generation, transmission and management companies. There are over 30,000 pensioners including engineers and employees.
"The funds to disburse pension is arranged by making annual provisions in the power tariff proposals by the companies", MP Vidyut Mandal Abhiyanta Sangh secretary VKS Parihar told this newspaper.
He said, "For last couple of years we have been regularly demanding to set up a pension fund for permanent solution to disburse pension instead of making annual provision in the tariff proposals and putting burden on the consumers".
The other demands of the forum include to award third higher pay scale akin given to the State government employees, to have a law for protection of those working in the field, to set up a committee for wage revision, give promotion to employees who have completed 20 years of service.
