Transfers of deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and higher rank officers will be done by the state government on the recommendation of the police establishment board.

Police personnel from constable to inspector rank can be punished with fine amounting up to their one-month salary and removal from important posting.

Some head constables and constables get special pay for working as trained wireless mechanics and operators, mechanical transport drivers, members of teargas squads or drill instructors and armourers or assistant armourers.

In case of negligence, they can be punished with fine amounting up to their one-month salary and removal from important posting without formal departmental enquiry by officers not below the rank of superintendent of police (SP).

Powers have been delegated to assistant inspectors general and SP to give any punishment as per norms contained in Regulations 214 to 217 to head constables and constables and sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors under Regulation 214 (1 & 4) or Regulation 215 (A & B).

Officers of the rank of Range IGs and SP or of equivalent rank have been delegated powers to suspend officers from the rank of constable to inspector until pendency of enquiry into their conduct and give punishment to them under Regulations 214, 215, 216 and 217.
