MP: Two more farmers die, toll reaches 12 in Bhind district

According to information, Mansharam Mahor, 55, a resident of Chandokhar village, has had a huge crop loss in the recent unseasonal rain and hailstorm, but his name didnft figure in the survey list.

Mansharam had more than three bigha land of his own and he had taken another 12 bigha land from two persons on contract for farming. He had sown wheat on the entire stretch of 15 bigha land under his control. He had a debt of Rs 44,000 from the Central Bank of India.

Already depressed over loss of crop, Mansharam was further shocked when he found his name missing from the survey list and he died of cardiac arrest on Sunday. Sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), Gohad, Uma Karare said how Mansharam's name was omitted from the survey list would be investigated.

Delay in payment of compensation had only increased his worries, he said. Police have registered a case and further investigation was being made. With two more deaths in the district, total number of farmers dying following crop loss in unseasonal rains and hailstorms has gone up to 12
