MP: Yoga Day sinks in, enlivens power corridors

Bhopal is all set to celebrate International Yoga Day on Sunday.

Bhopal is all set to celebrate International Yoga Day on Sunday.

The final rehearsal for the main programme, scheduled to be organised at Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal, was conducted on Friday. Around 5,000 students of various private and government educational institutes of the state capital participated in the final rehearsal.

NCC cadets, school teachers, members of Brahmakumari and many other organisations also took part.

Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and many other dignitaries will be participating in the programme at Lal Parade Ground.

Preparations were also done at various government and private schools of the city. Educational institutes are also conducting practice sessions for the day.

"Around 200 students of our school went for the final rehearsal of International Yoga Day on Friday. They are going for the practice for past four days early in the morning. We are also organising yoga sessions for other students of our school," said ML Dubey, principal, Government Model School.

However, some schools are yet to receive instructions to organise yoga sessions on the occasion of Yoga Day. "Our students are going to Lal Parade Ground for practice for past three days, but no instructions have been given to us for organising yoga session in school too on Sunday," said Shahmim Ali, principal in-charge, Kamla Nehru Girls Higher Secondary School.

A budget of Rs 6.5 crore has been proposed to organise the programme. According to the decided schedule, the event will begin at 6.30 am.

All the dignitaries will reach the venue at 6.40 am. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will address the gathering at 6:45 am and the main Yoga programme will start at 7 am and commence at 7.35 am. Ministers, MPs, MLAs and other public representatives will be present in the programme.
