MPPEB scam: One racketeer, two students arrested

Three persons were arrested on Monday in connection with the PMT scam. While the special investigation team (SIT) nabbed one racketeer, identified as Avadh Bihari Sharma, in Indore, the Gwalior special task force (STF), arrested two MBBS students who had allegedly appeared as solvers for others.

Three persons were arrested on Monday in connection with the PMT scam. While the special investigation team (SIT) nabbed one racketeer, identified as Avadh Bihari Sharma, in Indore, the Gwalior special task force (STF), arrested two MBBS students who had allegedly appeared as solvers for others. They were identified as Surendra Verma and Mukesh Kumar.

Sharma, who hails from Uttar Pradesh had arranged an imposter for one Praveen Kurmi and had charged Rs 1.2 lakh from him.

While Verma, who was carrying a cash reward of Rs 5,000 on his head and was pursuing his MBBS from Jhansi Medical College, was arrested from Bank of Baroda’s Nazirabad branch, the other was picked up from Banda. Kumar is pursuing his MBBS from Gorakhpur Medical College.

Inspector Prashant Kumar said the STF was on the lookout for Verma since January 2015 and his mobile number was put on surveillance. Cops had raided Verma’s parental house in Shyam Khera village, Fatehpur from where they got information about his hideouts in Kanpur.
