All the food safety officers of Bhopal have been instructed to find hookah lounges running illegally in the city and submit a report to chief medical and health officer Dr Pankaj Shukla within two days.

Dr Shukla said all the food safety officers have been alloted particular areas of the city for inspection. If the food and drugs administration would receive complaint of hookah lounges running in a particular area, strict action would be taken against the responsible food safety officer, he said.

He further said the food safety officers have also been asked to submit a certificate to administration that all the hookah lounges have been closed in the city. If any lounge would be found open in the city in future, show-cause notices would be served on the lounge owner and legal action would be taken against him/her.
